What is HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)?

lifting-nechirurgical

HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) technology uses ultrasound energy delivered in a highly focused manner at precisely established depths to coagulate target tissues. This technology has been used for several years with great success to destroy tumors that are difficult to access surgically at the level of internal organs (liver, kidneys, even brain tissue).

Researchers have extended the applicability of this method and developed the aesthetic HIFU technology to reduce the laxity of the skin tissue by dotted focusing ultrasound at small depths under the skin to contract the subcutaneous tissue or linear focusing for the lipolytic effect of subcutaneous fat. HIFU is the only treatment approved by the FDA for lifting lax and loose skin in safe conditions.

How does HIFU work?

Ultracel Q+ is the latest version of HIFU equipment developed by Jeisys Medical who, after many years of research, brought to the aesthetic market the fastest, most accurate and safe technology of recent years. Ultracel Q+ uses multiple applicators that emit highly focused ultrasound in a dotted or linear manner at various depths to obtain the contraction of the deep and superficial layers of the skin thus generating, by heating up to 65-75 degrees Celsius, a lipolysis and/or lifting effect at the level of work area. Thus, the skin is treated layer by layer, to retain the subcutaneous fat and the aged collagen that will be coagulated and replaced with new collagen.

The diversity of working depths allows establishing a personalized plan for each patient and type of skin damage.

HIFU does not affect the epidermis, the heat being released in depth, thus, the recovery time is close to zero.

What does the procedure consist of?

The procedure does not require prior preparation. The area to be treated is disinfected, marked, a neutral gel like the ultrasound gel is applied and the treatment begins, starting with the deep layers followed by the superficial ones.

During the procedure, the patient experiences the feeling of localized heat, which can create a slight disconfort. A slight erythema (redness of the skin) and/or edema may also appear, which disappears in the next 2-3 hours.

After the procedure, we will apply moisturizing cream and sun protection cream.

It is ideal for: reducing laxity of the skin and excess fat in small, localized areas of the face and submandibular area, reducing laxity and fine wrinkles at the level of the subocular area and cheeks, neck and décolleté, recontouring in the submandibular area and reducing the double chin , as well as reducing excess fat and toning the skin in certain localized areas of the body (knees, arms).

How many sessions are recommended?

Since each individual responds in a particular way, a treatment plan will be made together with the operating doctor. Beneficial effects can be observed immediately after the session, although the definitive effect after a session is obtained after 2-3 months (time during which the coagulated collagen regenerates). For a very loose skin or a greater excess of fat, 1-2 additional sessions can be recommended at an interval of 1 month.

For visible effects, it is very important that you are eligible for such a treatment. Talk to one of our team doctors to find out if you are a good candidate for this procedure.

Possible side effects: skin dryness, ecchymoses, redness, transient edema, temporary sensory disturbances (numbness), hyperpigmentation if the doctor’s instructions are not followed.

Contraindications: HIFU treatments are contraindicated for patients who have: active herpes simplex virus infection, or other bacterial or fungal infections, patients who are allergic to anesthetic creams, patients with autoimmune diseases, patients with coagulation disorders or who are being treated with anticoagulants, pregnancy , breastfeeding, tendency to keloid scar formation, patients with pacemakers or stents, metal implants (to discuss with the doctor), skin cancer.
